today i went on a spontaneous adventure with kim and alex to find the two squirrels vintage
sale in sleepy rangiora. it was my first visit to their new location,
and i was delighted to find the familiar faces from two of my favourite
shops from pre-earthquake christchurch.
i was even more delighted to go home with two vintage dresses and a pair of cropped gingham slacks. the tan button-front dress was my favourite find, but i'm thinking of dying it (navy maybe?) because i'm not exactly an 'earth tones' kind of girl. but the cut is perfect, and it has pockets even! pockets! if i do decide to dye it, i will definitely post the before and after...
after two squirrels, we stopped for rations at The Blue Rooster Cafe, which was an old fave of mine back when i lived in oxford and rangiora seemed a thriving metropolis in comparison. sounds weird, but this slice of chocolate & licorice cake was divine!

next, we moved on to The Gingerbread House, a specialty candy shop, where we all treated ourselves to something sweet - i went for gummy bones :)
our last stop in rangiora was at Femme de Brocante, where i was pleasantly surprised to find a designer fabric shop full of upholstry material in polka dots and floral print! too bad i move so much, if i had a home to decorate for myself, this is certainly where I would start... definitely worth a visit if you're ever in the area.
after all of that, i was ready to spend a quiet night in. I listened to my christmas present from my thoughtful brother-in-law - The Green Album, (a compilation of the songs from The Muppets performed by artists like weezer, ok go, and the fray), checked out galadarling's links from the week, and made myself pasta with spinach, feta, lentils and pesto - yum!
all in all, a delightful, girly day :)
